Every year the U.S. News and World Report magazine names its most outstanding schools. This year North Lake is listed as a “Bronze” school. (External Link)
To be candid, their criteria are often unclear and some years I have wondered why we didn’t make their list when I thought we were strong. Regardless – we are on their list this year as a school worthy of recognition.
There are 326 high schools in Oregon. 92 made the U.S. News list; three with gold medals, 32 with Silver medals and 62 with bronze medals. Some of the criteria include student demographics as they pertain to success in reading and math proficiency; disadvantaged students and their success as well as the schools remoteness and rural setting.
U.S. News considers all of those criteria and more when ranking schools. We have a tremendous staff and great kids and it all proves what we know to be true – NORTH LAKE IS A TERRIFIC SCHOOL!
