Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,

Our year is going well, and we are enjoying the second year of renewing our school community. We continue to add more activities for our students, including academic, extra-curricular and leadership options. If your student is not involved in a school activity, please encourage their participation in an activity of their choice. Let us know how we can help!

At this time, transportation is our biggest challenge. We are working hard to find solutions to the problems. Thank you to the Fort Rock parents who are transporting their own students to school each day. I am more than grateful for your cooperation and hope you do not have to do this for too much longer! Believe me, we are working on it. If you have questions or concerns, please email [email protected]

We are scheduling more events for parents than in past years, so please watch for information. This includes grade level meetings at the middle and high school to inform you and your student of graduation expectations, credits, grades, scholarships, etc. Klamath Community College has already been here once, and is scheduled to join us at least three more times before the end of the year. They provide very helpful information regarding post-secondary options of all types, as well as Oregon scholarship information. Allison Rudolf is on the Lake County Scholarship Board, and is always willing to provide information on local Lake County scholarships. We understand that students don’t always get this information home to you, so we are posting it on Facebook, the district website and the reader-board. Please watch for upcoming events.

We also have begun publishing on a regular basis with the Desert Whispers, the Community Breeze, and the Lake County Examiner. We hope this helps reach those who are not as closely connected to school events as are those with students who attend regularly.

One of our favorite events is coming up soon, and that is the Veteran’s Day breakfast and program! It is scheduled on Thursday, November 9, 2023 with a breakfast at 8 AM and the program at 9 AM. If you are a veteran, past or present, or a Gold Star Family, you are warmly invited to attend. If you know a veteran who may not see our invitations, please feel free to invite them to this event. We look forward to honoring our veterans!

Respectfully,

Gail Buermann
